16 tenses inggris



1. Simple Present Tense
This tenses are used to denote something that is fixed, habitual or an essential truth. Because it is often related to the incident at about past, present and future, this at least has the Tenses description for a certain time.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S + V1(es/s) + O
(+) He writes a letter every month
·         Negatif (-) = S + Do/does + Not + V1 + O
(-) He doesn’t writes a letter every month
·         Introgatif(?) = Do/does + S + V1 + O
(?) Does he writes a letter every month?
·         Question word (?) = Question Word + To be 1 + Subject + Non Verb/ verb1 + Object ?
What are you ?
            Where is your sister ?
                        Why Does she speak English everyday?
                        When are you travel with your family ?
                        Who is your mother ?
                        How are you ?


2. Present Continuous Tense
This tenses are used to express an action which is actually being done at this time.
Example          :
·         Positif (+)  = S+V.ing+O
(+) I am teaching English at the first grade of SMK 2 MEI
·         Negatif (-) = S+to be+not+V1+O
(-) I am not teaching English at the first grade of SMK 2 MEI
·         Introgatif (?) = to be+S+V1+O
(?) Am I teaching Englidh at the first grade of SMK 2 MEI?
·         Question word (?) = Question Word + To be 1  + Subject + (Verb + ing) + Object ?
What are you doing?
Who is studying English?
When is he wathing television ?
Where are they meeting with client ?
Why are you washing t-shirt ?
            How is she traveling with doni ?




3. Present Perfect Tense
This tenses are used to express your experience. This sentence can used to say that you have never had a certain experience. Present Perfect Tense didn’t use to describe specific event.
Example          :
·         Positif(+) = S+have/has+V3+O
(+) We have learned English for two years
·         Negatif (-) = S+have/has+not+V3+O
(-) We have not learned English for two years
·         Introgatif (?) = Have/has+S+V3+O
(?) Have we learned English for two years?
·         Question word (?) = question word + have /has + subject + verb3 + object?
Why have you lived here 2 years ?
Who has killed her father ?
When has she called you ?
Where have they ordered handphone ?
What have you studied with her ?
How has he walked on street ?



4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Present Perfect Continuous Tense is used to show that something started in the past and has continued up until now. ”for two hours’, ‘for two weeks’, ‘since yesterday’ are all durations which can be used with this sentence. Without the durations, the tense has a more general meaning of “lately.” We often use the words “lately” or “recently” to emphasize this meaning.
Example          :
·          Positif (+) =  S+have/has+been+Ving+O
(+) I have been going to Pantai Samudra for my holiday since 2002
·         Negatif (-) = S+have/has+not+been+Ving+O
(-) I have not going to Painting Samudra for my holiday since 2002
·         Introgatif (?) = Have/has+S+been+Ving+O
(?) Have I going to Pantai Samudra for my holiday since 2002?
·         Question word (?) = question word+have/has+subject+been+ (verb + ing)+ object ?
How long has She been studying English in the classroom ?
                        Where has She been studying English for 2 hours ?
                        What has She been studying in the classroom for 2 hours ?
Who has been studying English in the classroom for 2 hours?

        5. Simple Past Tense
We used this tense to talk about the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+V2+O
(+) Sarah invite me last week
·         Negatif (-) = S+Did not+V2+O
(-) Sarah did not invite last week
·         Introgatif (?) = Did+S+V2+O
(?) Did Sarah invite last week?
·         Question word (?) = question word+did+subject+verb1+ object ?
Why did he buy a pair of shoes yesterday ?
What did he do yesterday ?
When did he wash a car ?
Where did he order shoes and bag ?
Who did come hospital ?
How did she dance in the ballroom yesterday ?




6. Past Continuous Tense
This tense is used to say when we were in the middle of doing at a particular moment in the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+was/were+vVing+O
(+)The third year student were sitting behind the teacher’s now yesterday
·         Negatif (-) = S+was/were+not+v.ing+o
(-) The third year student were not sitting behind the teacher’s now yesrterday
·         introgatif (?) = was/were+S+v.ing+o
(?) Were the third year student sitting behind the teacher’s now yesterday?
·         Question word (?) = Questionword+was/were+S+verb.ing+object ?
Why were you reading that book?
What was she doing with this document ?
What was she doing with fani’s dog ?
Where were you looking a dog ?
When was he watching television ?
How were you cutting your father t-shirt ?  
7. Past Perfect Tense
The Past Perfect expresses the idea that something occurred before another action in the past. It can also show that something happened before a specific time in the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+had+V3+O
(+) The train had left before I arrived
·         Negatif (-) = S+had not+V3+o
(-) The train had not left before I arrived
·         Intrigattif (?) = Had+S+V3+O
(?) Had the train left before I arrived?
·         Question word (?)  = question word + had + subject + v3 + object ?
What had you given to jhon ?
Where had she met your family ?
When had they cooked fried chicken together ?
Who had you ordered a handphone ?
Why had you studied english language ?
How had he waited you at the bus stop ?


8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense
We use the Past Perfect Continuous to show that something started in the past and continued up until another time in the past. “For five minutes” and “for two weeks” are both durations which can be used with the Past Perfect Continuous. Notice that this is related to the Present Perfect Continuous however, the duration does not continue until now, it stops before something else in the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+had+been+Ving+O
(+) Dodi had been looking for the girl for a year before he applied her
·         Negatif (-) =S+had+not+been+Ving+O
(-) Dodi had not been looking for the girl for a year before heapplied her
·         Introgatif (?) = Had+s+been+ving+o
(?) Had Dodi been looking for the girl for a year before he applied her?
·         Question word (?) = question word + had + s +been + ving + o ?
What had she been going to school ?
Where had we been traveling ?
When had they been running together ?
Why had he sleeping on chair ?
Who had sitting there ?
How had you drawing a horse ?

9. Simple Future Tense
often called will. because, the modal auxiliary verb in this sentence is will.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+shall+/will+V1+O
(+) He will go to Pasir Panjang tomorrow morning
·         Negatif(-) = S+shall/will+not+V1+O
(-) He will not go to Pasir Panjang tomorrow morning
·         Introgatif (?) = Shall/will+S+V1+O
(?) Will he go to pasir Panjang tomorrow morning?
·         Question word (?) = question word + shall/will + s + v1+ o ?
What will he come to my party ?
When will she give me a reason ?
Where will she dance ?
Why shall you buy some flowers ?
Who will sing on indonesia idol ?
How will he wash a car ?




10. Future Continuous Tense
Future Continuous has two different forms: “will be doing ” and “be going to be doing”. Future Continuous forms are usually interchangeable.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+shall/will+be+Ving+O
(+) I shall be waiting for you in this station at four
·         Negatif (-) = S+shall/will+not+be+Ving+O
(-) I shall not be waiting for you in this station at four
·         Introgatif (?) =  Shall/will+S+be+ving+O
(?) Shall I be waiting for you in this station at four?
·         Question word (?) = question word + shall/will + s+ be + ving + o ?
What will he be doing ?
When will she be going to bandung ?
Where shall you be walking ?

11. Future Perfect Tense
This sentence is used when we talk about the past in the future.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) =  S+will/shall+have+V3+O
(+) She will have written his lesson by time he go out
·         negatif (-) = S+will/shall+not+have+V3+O
(-) She will not have written his lesson by time he go out
·         Introgatif (?) = Will/shall+S+have+V3+O
(?) Will she have written his lesson by time he go out?
·         Question word (?) = question word + will/shall+s+have+v3+o ?
What will she have written his lesson ?
Where will she have written his lesson ?
When will she have written his lesson ?

12. Future Perfect Continuous Tense
We use the future perfect continuous tense to talk about a long action before some point in the future.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+shall/will+have+been+Ving+O
(+) I shall have been writing a letter at this time tomorrow
·         Negatif (-) = S+shall+will+not+have+been+Ving+O
(-) I shall not have been writing a letter at this time tomorrow
·         Introgatif (?) = Shall/will+S+have+been+Ving+O
(?) Shall I have been writing a letter at this time tomorrow?
·         Question word (?) = question word+shall/will+s+have+been+ving+o ?

13. Past Future Tense
this tense is used to express the events that WILL be done, BUT in the past, not the present.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+should/would+V1+O
(+) I should go to Mojosari next day
·         Negatif (-) = S+should/would+not+V1+O
(-) I should not go to Mojosari next day
·         Introgatif (?) = Should/would+S+V1+O
(?) Should I go to Mojosari next day?
·         Question word (?) = question word+should/would+s+v1+o ?

14. Past Future Continuous Tense
Past Future Continuous tells an action would be in progress in the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+should/would+be+Ving+O
(+) I should be finishing this home work at this time following week
·         Negatif (-) = S+should/would+not+be+V.ing+O
(-) I should not be finishing this home work at this time following week
·         Introgatif (?) = Should/would+S+be+V.ing+O
(?) Should I be finishing this home work at this time following week?
·         Question word (?) = question word+should/would+s+be+ving+o ?

Where should you be reading newspaper ?

15. Past Future Perfect Tense
This tense is restates the action stated in Future Perfect Tense but with different time dimension, it is in past time whilst the Future Perfect is in future time (not happen yet).
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+should/would+have+V2+O
(+) I should have paif if I had come here
·         Negatif (-) = S+should/would+not+have+V2+O
(-) I should not have paif if I had come here
·         Introgatif (?) = Should/would+S+not+have+V2+O
(?) Should I have paif if I had come here?
·         Question word (?) = question word+should/would+s+have+v2+o?

16. Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense
Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense emphasizes on the course and the duration of the action. Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense is used to tell an action which would have been happening until a certain time (period) in the past.
Example          :
·         Positif (+) = S+should/would+have+been+V.ing+o
(+) By last Febuary I should have been working this restaurant for one year
·         Negatif (-) =  S+should/would+not+have+been+V.ing+O
(-) By last Febuary I should not have been working this restaurant for one year
·         Inttrogatif (?) = Should/would+S+have+been+V.ing+O
